Chat Of Our Own is being built around immersive conversation, creative freedom, community feedback, and longform AI interaction.

This research form helps guide future features, platform philosophy, moderation policies, and the overall direction of CO3.

One of the biggest challenges facing AI platforms is cost. Running integrated AI models at scale simply is not free.

Many platforms attempt to solve this with aggressive advertising, subscriptions, token systems, or increasingly restrictive moderation. We are not particularly interested in building that kind of environment.

Instead, CO3 is exploring a BYO API approach. (BYO = Bring Your Own.)

This would allow users to connect their own API keys from services such as Gemini or OpenAI, with additional providers potentially supported in the future.

In practice, this means users directly cover the cost of their own AI usage, rather than the platform passing those costs onto everyone through ads, subscriptions, or heavy monetization systems.

We believe this approach creates a healthier balance between sustainability, creative freedom, privacy, and user control.

As platforms become increasingly profit-driven, concerns like invasive advertising, excessive data collection, age verification requirements, and aggressive content moderation often follow close behind.

CO3 aims to take a different path.
